Classic Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ¾ cup chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 1 15 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2 cans tomato paste, small
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 Tbsp parsley
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 16 oz ricotta cheese
  • 8 oz lasagna noodles

Instructions

  • In large heavy pan, lightly brown beef and onion in oil. Add tomatoes, paste, water, parsley, salt, sugar, garlic powder, pepper, and oregano. Simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile cook noodles as directed, drain. In 13 x 9 pan spread about 1 cup sauce, then alternate layers of lasagna, ricotta, sauce, mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese. Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes until lightly browned and bubbling. Allow to stand 15 minutes before serving. Cut into squares to serve.
